The Animist Artist is the work of artist Selma Rayon. Her creativity is driven by the desire to explore an enchanted worldview, and to weave the magic and wisdom of folklore into our everyday life.

The Animist Artist’s unique and evocative style comprises of vibrant colors, dynamic line work and playful themes surrounding folklore, nature, psychedelic and pagan imagery.

Mushrooms, plants, faeryfolk and skulls feature quite a lot in her work. Fascinated by the bold and often awe-inspiring imagery of folklore traditions from around the world, Selma weaves strands from universal themes to inspire her patterns and illustrations. Her goods are made to re-wild, re-enchant and delight.

What started as a therapeutic hobby to recover from burnout and perfectionism, became a magical and healing trip into the power of creativity. Re-discovering an animistic worldview that feels personally true but is generally shunned in the mainstream, Selma now dedicates her creative work to those of us who feel that this world is an unexplainable and truly magical experience.
